The medicinal king of mountains

Mt. Iouzen is a massif in Japan’s Hokuriku region straddling Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture and Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. Despite having a relatively low altitude of 939 meters (3080 ft), it is renowned for its diversity of wildflowers, mushrooms, and other botanicals, many of which are sought for their medicinal properties. There are multiple trailheads with varying degrees of difficulty making trekking accessible for most any age outdoor enthusiast. Our guide, Norimasa, is an expert climber with exhaustive knowledge of the area’s plant life. He welcomes trekkers to experience the flora and the mountain’s changing face across the seasons. As the trail crests, a panoramic view of the historic city of Kanazawa and the Sea of Japan open. Join us for a holistic view of Kanazawa from the medicinal king of mountains, Mt. Iouzen.
