Trace water sources

Kanazawa is most known for its water: Rain and snow on Mt. Hakusan, one of the most important mountains in Japan (the other two are Mt. Fuji and Mt. Tateyama), provide abundant and delicious water to the town. Our local nature guide Norimasa will show you springs, aqueducts, shrines and gardens, tracing water sources connecting history and landmarks of Kanazawa. It is an excellent introduction to the town. Duration is about 90 minutes. Norimasa is also an author of several books on hiking, wildflowers, and mushrooms.

What you’ll do

Meet your local guide and interpreter and then stroll through the “water” town of Kanazawa! Your guide will tell the story about “water” in Kanazawa, to visit the canal systems, and the legendary spring that gives Kanazawa its name to the city. And think about the history of water in Kanazawa which continuously flows. Also, you can enjoy the different tastes of water. After tasting water, enjoy matcha and seasonal sweats will be served by the guide.
