Elegant weightlessness of flight

Our paragliding adventure is offered in the small village of Akaigawa near Yoichi, known as the birthplace of Nikka Whiskey. Near the Sea of Japan, the area is ensconced within pristine forests and is blessed with clear mountain spring water. Paragliding these skies of unsurpassed beauty is led by Yasufumi, a former officer in the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Following his career in the SDF, Yasufumi became enthralled with the expansive nature of Hokkaido, and now operates the paragliding school on privately held land. Experience the elegant weightlessness of flight in tandem with Yasufumi as you take-off from atop a mountain and glide smoothly through the air to the valley below. Round out your experience with a visit to the charming Akaigawa Village.

What you’ll do

20 min Preparation and simulating for the experience
20 min Driving up to the departing point
20 min Preparation for the flight
3-5 min Enjoy paragliding with the instructor
(Flying time may be delayed due to wind conditions. )

What to wear/bring

• Comfortable clothes (long sleeves and long pants)

• Sneakers (preferably trekking shoes, light hiking shoes or other shoes that cover your ankles)

• Beverages, towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, clothes for changes

What else you should know

• In the event of extreme weather forecast on the day of the experience, this activity may be cancelled at the evening of the day before the experience.

• Starting time may be delayed due to wind conditions. It is recommended to make flexible arrangements after the activity.

• Due to wind condition, the experience may be cancelled on the day of the experience and partial refunds will be issued.
