Exquisite designs

Witness the exquisiteness of patterns engraved on vibrant glassware. In spite of its name, Edo kiriko, or Tokyo Kiriko, has its roots in Osaka, which was known historically for its advanced glassware manufacturing methods. It was during the Edo period that some of those methods were brought back to Tokyo, then known as Edo, by a glass-maker named Kagaya Kyubei. The practice became widespread in Tokyo, and thus, Edo kiriko emerged. With patterns inspired by traditional Japanese illustrations and tales, Edo kiriko is unique in its detailed, traditional designs. Seize this opportunity to study the intricate patterns of Edo kiriko glassware with a glass cutting professional.

What you’ll do

Choose a glass of your liking from 6 different glass types and make your own kiriko carved glass! Once you’re done, take pictures of your final product (special lighting provided) and wrap it up to go!
