Concentrated on the Natural World
The todomatsu, Hokkaido’s representative fir which towers into the sky and possesses a refreshing fragrance, is a singular tree found only in certain cold climates. The oil collected from its branches is highly renowned for its aromatherapeutic properties, said to aid in improving sleep and soothing the senses. In a distillation process that is half-art, half-science, a precise combination of steaming, filtration, and refinement occurs, resulting in a naturally scented aromatic oil condensed into a single bottle. But production isn't limited to only inside the workshop. The neighboring forest, composed of todomatsu firs, not only provides the ingredients, but also plays an integral part in the local ecosystem. A trek through the forest, which culminates in a scenic, oceanside vista, displays the intricate connection between supporting nature and sustaining oneself using it. The final result is a fragrant product that strives for sustainable usage of natural resources and finds harmony in production and preservation.
What you’ll do
Extract oil from Todomatsu branches to create your own aromatic essential oil sample. Trek through the surrounding evergreen forest with a nature guide and bask in seaside scenery. Finish with a herbal tea and snack in the workshop.
What you wear
The experience includes a short hike through the forest, guests are encouraged to dress warmly and to wear appropriate shoes.
