The philosophies of "mushin" (a meditative no-mind state) and "ma" (the beauty of empty space and silence) also bring additional depth to each brush of ink, creating an art that captures both tranquility and movement in every piece of art. While Japanese calligraphy has various styles, it's crucial to start from the basics and develop solid foundational skills before venturing into more uninhibited creative techniques. In this comprehensive course, learn the essentials of shodo from a full-time professional calligraphy instructor whose work has been featured in countless national exhibitions. What you’ll do

Learn about the history of calligraphy in Japan and the tools used in shodo. Under the instruction of the calligraphy master, discover fundamental techniques for making your own calligraphy masterpieces. Practice creating various different characters and bring your work home.
