Luxurious Minimalism

Sushi has helped catapult Japanese cuisine to its top spot on the global food stage, and it’s no secret that a quality plate does not come cheap; but did you know that sushi, dating back to the Edo period, was originally a street food? The complexity of its construction is on par with that of its storied history: it appears as deceptively simple as a slice of fish on a hunk of rice, but nuances such as grain type, vinegar ratio, and the angle of each cut can make or break the form. Learn techniques from the best in the industry, so you’ll be able to recreate authentic sushi back home!

Customer Reviews

Not every expert is a teacher, but these sushi masters instructed as excellently as they prepared the food itself. An experience equal parts educational and enjoyable.

My son and I love Japanese cuisine and always look for new and adventurous ways to experience it. With the Sushi Masterclass we found all the we were looking for & much more. The Masterclass was a brief yet very immersive and satisfying experience. The Sushi Master, his apprentice and the owner of the establishment are a class act, each with a unique perspective to share. They showed incredible hospitality and ready to share, teach and explain all things sushi. The outstanding translation by the Deeper Japan guide allowed for a deeply fulfilling cultural exchange between all of us. We laughed, learned and simply had the best time.
