Revealing the Beauty of Fresh Flowers
The art of ikebana, or flower arrangement, finds its roots in medieval Japan, as an aesthetic practice enjoyed by aristocrats and samurai. It is a tradition that has branched out over a long history, with numbers estimating over 300 different schools and styles of flower arrangement. This experience invites you to a school of ikebana which holds a special place within this history, both as an intentioned bearer of traditional techniques and an innovator within the craft. While continuing to teach their time-honored “Classical Flowers” and “Free Flowers” styles, this ikebana school also pushes the boundaries of tradition, developing a new concept called “Plant Appearance”. Under the guidance of an instructor certified by the headmaster of the tradition, learn about the traditional and contemporary techniques and try your hand at creating your own ikebana flower arrangement.
What you’ll do
Under the instruction of a certified ikebana Master, learn the techniques to craft your own flower arrangement. Then, take away a special gift to continue your practice at home.
