Absorbing Green Hues
Once you set foot into the serene primeval forests of Mt. Omine, you will find yourself surrounded by lush flora and birdsong. Immerse yourself into the fresh mountain air and enjoy the soothing experience of shinrin-yoku. Directly translated as forest bathing, this method of relaxation creates a space of quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A term coined in the 1980’s, it was part of an effort by the Forest Agency of Japan to bring attention back to the importance of nature conservancy and forest growth and conservation. Popularized by the media, shinrin-yoku has created a heightened appreciation for the bountiful natural landscape of Japan. Led by a local guide, venture into the forests of Mt. Omine and take in the spectacular sights, sounds, and smells of the mountain. When you reach the summit, take a moment to pause and enjoy the beautiful 360-degree view of the surrounding areas below. Then, at the summit, enjoy a hearty meal of local delicacies.
