With more than 4 million visitors annually, Miyajima Island is one of Hiroshima Prefecture’s most popular destinations.  Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the area boasts primeval forests and spectacular views of Mt. Misen along with the famous “floating” torii gates of Itsukushima Shrine.  From the observatory atop Mt. Misen, the highest peak on the island, the view of the Seto Inland Sea is so staggeringly beautiful as to have been rated three stars by the Michelin Green Guide Japan.  

Join our tour guide on a trek of Mt. Misen to experience first-hand the majestic, sacred grounds.  You will be introduced to a variety of shrines and historical sites, each with interesting stories lovingly imparted by our guide.  This is an unparalleled opportunity to breathe in the sacred air of nature.

What you’ll do

20 minutes: Walk with your guide through the back alleys to the ropeway stop.
20 minutes: Take Ropeway
30 minutes: Hike to the top of Mt.Misen
30 minutes: Walking around the observatory
80 minutes: Descending the Daishoin Course

What to wear

Trekking shoes preferred. Sandals and Skirts are not allowed. We encourage you to bring a rain suits.
