What is Bespoke Travel?

Bespoke Travel looks different for every client, based on their needs and requests. Some clients might request a multi-day session with one of our partner artisan masters, while others might require assistance with planning logistics on larger itineraries.

What can be requested by partner organizations in Bespoke Travel?

A complimentary call with our travel consultant will allow you to directly express your requests. The consultant can recommend a mix of Deeper Japan Masterclasses and Private Guided Tour options to augment a pre-existing travel plan for clients. For example, if your client already has made plans to stay in Tokyo and is looking for unique things to book, we can recommend stand-alone products to suit their interests.

More services are available if additional support is required; however, additional charges will be incurred. Some services include:

  • Travel Design: Customized itineraries, including recommended activities, timing, restaurants, and accommodations for days on longer schedules when no Deeper Japan products are booked

  • Restaurant Booking: Assistance securing reservations for restaurants, especially hard-to-book fine-dining options

  • Booking Service: Support booking third-party services, such as transportation, tickets, and accommodations.

What are the upfront costs?

A $3000 deposit is required after the consultation call is required, in order to proceed with flexible booking. The charges for different services will come out of this deposit, providing flexibility for urgent confirmed bookings.

What does the process of confirming Bespoke Travel look like?

Clients can begin by placing a $3000 deposit via our website and emailing booking@deeperjapan.com to schedule a consultation call. During the call, a cultural specialist will learn more about your travel interests and how Deeper Japan can assist.

After confirming the deposit and consultation, the specialist will create a draft itinerary tailored to your requests. This itinerary will be reviewed together to finalize experiences and services. The initial $3000 deposit will be applied toward bookings, with further payments made as needed. Please note that availability for masterclasses and cultural experiences depends on host schedules; if Deeper Japan is unable to confirm an experience, a full refund for that experience will be issued.

Additional Bespoke Services

1. Travel Design:

The development of unique travel plans based on the guests’ existing requests and desired locations. This includes research on logistics, such as transportation options and scheduling, recommended activities in the area, a timeline of events for the day, and dining/accommodation recommendations (not including reservations).

    • Cost: $300/day on itinerary of planning

      • Offered in conjunction with the purchase of additional Deeper Japan products; not available for individual purchase.

      • The trip design fee is due upfront and is non-refundable

    • One complimentary alteration is included

      • Additional alterations can be requested for an additional $100/day

  • For days when other Deeper Japan experiences/guiding have already been booked, complimentary planning can be provided

    • Travel Design is primarily intended to provide clients with a way to assist clients with developing their itinerary on days where Deeper Japan’s masterclasses and Private Guided Tours are not needed.

2. Restaurant Booking:

Assistance securing reservations for restaurants; most ideal for fine-dining options with challenging reservations, such as those requiring invitations or months in advance before booking

    • Cost: $300/group per booking (of up to 10 people)

      • Nonrefundable fee in cases of guest cancellation; refunds provided if no booking can be confirmed on the side of Deeper Japan 

        • If restaurant requires an upfront payment to secure seats, that amount must also be provided to Deeper Japan before booking can proceed. This amount is also non-refundable.

      • Recommendations of restaurants: provided in Travel Design services or in custom itineraries made with Private Guided Tours.

        • Private Guided Tour guides can research and reserve restaurants as part of their services, but only for restaurants that do not require upfront course payment and do not have cancellation fees  

3. Booking Service:

The booking of services outside of those offered by Deeper Japan (Masterclasses, Private Guided Tours) can be arranged, including pre-booked transportation and accommodations, for a price reflecting Deeper Japan’s 20% handling fee. 

    • Payment for these services must be processed before booking can occur.

      • Once booked by Deeper Japan, no cancellations are allowed. Please see the Cancellation Policy below for more information.

    • Food reservations, especially hard-to-book fine dining, can be completed under our Restaurant Booking services.
